Hackney SOUP: Crowdfunding dinner for local community projects, 23 May

The SOUP format was started in Detroit several years ago, by Amy Kaherl, to endorse and support community projects that were in need of funding. By bringing people within the community together, she has seen relationships flourish across business, art, music and charity. We are inspired to bring this concept to Hackney.

Hackney crowdfunding dinner.

  • 4 pre-selected projects have four minutes to share their idea and answer 4 questions from the diners. Food is served after the presentations, giving people time to discuss and vote.

  • The projects can be about ANYTHING! No restrictions.

SOUP is a place for people to gather and to feel safe. Each individual who walks through the door is agreeing to grant the money to the project they think is most deserving through democracy and critical conversation. At the end of the evening people will vote on the project they think is most worthwhile. The winner will recieve all the money donated through tickets + Our/London Vodka will match the pot. We then ask past winners to come back in a few months to share with the community what they did with the money.

Entry is by donation, we will be adding up the total donations to be awarded to the winning project at the end. Our/London Vodka will match donations to contribute towards the fund.

Recommended donation: £10, sign-up via Eventbrite.
